ANCIENT CITIES OF SRI LANKA

Although sri lanka is a small country in extent , it inherits a long history more that 2500 years. Anuradhapura is the first capital of sri lanka where a lot of ancient ruins can be seen. Ruins of very ancient buildings ,places , pagodas and tanks bear evidence to a prosperous era of our country. When we visit the  ancient city of Anuradhapura we can really be pround of our forefathers   and their skills and craftsmanship.

Polonnaruwa , Sigiriya , Dambadeniya are some of the other historical places in the country. Aukana and vijithapura are two other important places in the history of sri lanka.Vijithapura is believed to be the place where the king Dutugemunu fought with King Elara. The Buddha statue at Aukana marvels people at its unique quality.

However, there are many historical places in our country. As real citizens we all must be pround of our history and our graet ancestors. Further , we all must try to protect these historical monuments for our younger generation.
